Frequently for DIY projects and crafts you will need to hold magnets in place using an adhesive. But what type of adhesive works best on neodymium magnets? Most types of strong glue or even strong tape will be effective when attaching magnets to various surfaces. As long as you don’t use hot glue, which uses heat causing magnets to lose their magnetism, you can’t really go wrong with adhesives for magnets. Here are a few types of adhesives crafters can use to secure neodymium magnets in place:

The type of glue you use also depends on the material coating the surface of the magnet. For example, many neodymium magnets have nickel coating, which isn’t the most receptive to adhesives because it is extremely resistant to corrosion. 1. Clean It
Prepping the surface of your magnet is a key step that you don’t want to skip when using an adhesive. You can use isopropyl alcohol to clean the surface, but an industrial solvent will be more effective for cleaning grease from the magnet.
2. Scratch It
Next, you want to abrade the surface using a sandpaper or even a nail. Lightly scratching the surface without removing the coating will make your neodymium magnet more likely to bond with the adhesive. After you rough up the surface a little, you should clean it again to remove the excess dust particles.
When it comes to using adhesives for magnets, there are almost an unlimited number of options. You can even buy adhesive magnets where all you have to do is peel and stick.
