Text messaging has been a significant way of communication ever since the smartphone became popular. However, sometimes some annoying issues may occur which we should pay attention to today. Here’s the thing. In various forums, we can see many complaints like these, “my Samsung phone won’t receive text messages”, “my Galaxy S7 won’t send texts” and many others. Part 1. Samsung Messaging App Not Working

Problem: Samsung galaxy not receiving text messages.
You can send messages to people, but your Samsung Galaxy phone is not able to get text messages from anyone. Even you try restoring factory reset, forcing app to stop and rebooting the phone, nothing is working.

Solution:
If factory reset can’t solve it, that’s to say that the problem might not be cased by your phone. Then please try to remove the SIM card from the phone, insert it into another one and check whether the same problem occurs or not. If it reoccurs, then it should be a SIM problem. Problem: Samsung not receiving text messages from one person.
You are unable to receive text messages from a specific number, but they can receive messages from you.
Solution:
Usually, when this happens, you should check if this number is blocked by your phone and lies in your Spam List. Go to check it by performing the steps listed below.

  1. Go into your Messages app, and tap the “More” button and then tap on “Settings”.
  2. Select Blocked Messages to view the messages that have been blocked.
  3. Tap on Block List. Here you can remove the number from the list.

Problem: Samsung not receiving long text messages.
You can receive every messages from anyone, except the very long messages regardless sent from an Android or an iPhone.

Solution:
If you are using Textra as the default messaging app on the Samsung phone, when the above problem happens, you should go to the Settings and turn off Advanced Messaging on your Galaxy phone. After that, go back to Textra and you can see all your messages again – both long and short messages.

You can send and receive texts but text notification is not working on Galaxy S Series or Note Series, so you have to randomly look down at your Samsung to see if there comes a new message.

Solution:
Make sure messages notification is on, check this by navigating to Settings > Notifications. And also try changing the text notification sound, because the current on may have a problem. If this issue still exists, 1) reboot your phone into Safe Mode, 2) find out and uninstall the app that may cause this issue, and 3) do a factory reset on your phone.

Part 3. Samsung Galaxy MMS Not Downloading

Problem: Failed to download multimedia messages on Samsung S/Note.
When you receive text messages and it is still downloading after a long time.

Solution:
To avoid the problem that Samsung won’t send or download MMS, you should make sure your phone has an active mobile data connection. Check this by going to Settings > More networks > Mobile networks > turn on the mobile data option. If it’s already switched on, check the APN settings which should match the settings being used by your network.

Part 4. Samsung Galaxy Lost Messages

Problem: Some of your text messages disappeared for some reasons. For example, you accidentally deleted your messages from Samsung Galaxy S9/S8/S7/S6, etc.

Check on the following:

You have restarted your device recently. See why it's important to Restart your device regularly.

Message blocking or Family allowances isn't preventing messaging on your end or your recipient's.

  1. Make sure the number was entered correctly, including country code. See Make an International Call for dialing patterns.
  2. Check that the number isn't on your device's spam list or block list. A Message blocking active error when sending a text to a specific person means their message blocking is active.
  3. Update the time and date on your device and enable auto-update.
  4. Uninstall any downloaded messaging apps.
  5. Android devices:
    • Make sure the SMSC setting is +12063130004.
    • Clear the app cache for Email & Messaging.
    • Reset APNs to default.
  6. Apple devices:
    • If the message is blue, see iMessage.
    • If you or your contact had an iPhone and switched recently, turn off or unregister iMessage & FaceTime. See Apple Support.
    • Check whether picture messaging is turned on in Settings > Messages > turn on MMS Messaging.
    • Reset Network Settings in Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
  7. Update your device software to the latest version.
  8. Delete all text threads. You can back these up beforehand using apps from the app store.
  9. Picture Messaging (MMS): Test sending one small picture to one recipient.
    • MMS is limited to 10 recipients per message.
    • MMS can take longer to get to your mobile device than a text.
    • All networks restrict the size of MMS. For T-Mobile, the max sending size 1MB, 3 MB for receiving and under 3072 x 3072 resolution.
    • MMS's may be automatically resized when sent, but may still be too large.
  10. If available, move the SIM card to another T-Mobile device and try texting from that device to determine if it's a network of device issue.

Email issues

Not Receiving Group Text Att

  1. For email set up, find the Email accounts step for your Device​.
  2. On a computer, check you can send/receive new email. If not, contact the email provider.
  3. If you use an email program, like Outlook, set it to leave emails on the server.
  4. In the app store search for the email provider's app.
    • Some providers rely on you using their app to send/receive email and attachments.
    • If you are only having problems when a downloaded app, contact the app developer.
  5. If not using an email provider's app, find the below information for your provider and make sure they match your device settings:
    • Email address
    • Incoming server address
    • Outgoing server address
    • Domain
    • User name
    • Password
    • SSL Encryption
  6. Check if you have two-step verification on the email account. If you do, follow the email provider's steps to activate email on the device or turn the feature off.
  7. Turn off any data saver, battery saving, or power saving features or apps.
  8. Android devices:
    • Clear the app cache and data for the app you are using for email, usually Email, Mail, or Gmail.
    • In device settings for Data Usage, check if data has been restricted.
    • For Exchange accounts, check the Settings > Account > Exchange account to activate device administrator if necessary.
  9. Apple devices: Check the Settings > Accounts &Passwords > Fetch New Data settings for new email to be pushed to your device.
  10. If you are using tmomail.net, make sure that the email is plain text only. HTML is not supported.
  11. Restart the device.
  12. If email is still not working, delete the email account from the device.
  13. Add the email account again, and double-check all of your settings as you enter them.
  14. If problems continue, contact your email provider for their email settings and email service troubleshooting.
