How to Book your Placement Test
Canadian Students
To be eligible for the General Arts and Science – English for Academic Purposes (Canadian) program (EAP-CDN), you must meet the following criteria:
While FreeRADIUS comes with a command-line tool called radeapclient, by far and away the best EAP testing tool is the eapoltest program from wpasupplicant. The default build of wpasupplicant does not build the eapoltest program, so you will have to do that yourself. This site is maintained by Mainstream Engineering Corporation and is not associated with the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). EPA maintains its own web site that includes information about both section 608 and section 609 certification. Mainstream is certified by the EPA to provide both 608 and 609 certification. The EAP will help you be prepared for college level English and math! Each spring, all eleventh grade students in California participate in the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP) exam. EAP results are included on the CAASPP Student Score Report and will be provided by your.
- You are a Canadian citizen, permanent resident of Canada, diplomat, convention refugee or protected person. (Refugee claimants are not eligible)
- English is not your first, or native, language.
Applicants are required bring valid government-issued photo ID (identification) and proof of legal status in Canada to the placement test.
How to Apply
- Apply to the General Arts and Science – English for Academic Purposes (1438Y01F) program through Ontario Colleges and pay the $95 application fee. Additional information on steps to apply
- You will receive an email with instructions on how to book your placement test. For current testing fees, please see https://www.algonquincollege.com/testcentre/virtual-assessments/
- Once you have completed the placement test, you will be provided with your EAP level by an advisor from the Language Institute
- Payment information and next steps will be provided following your placement test
- You will be registered into the program when you have made your payment
Applicants who have previously obtained scores on accepted standardized language proficiency tests (e.g., IELTS,TOEFL, or CAEL) may not be required to take the placement test. In this case, the applicant should email results of the standardized test to eap_international@algonquincollege.com
NOTE: Applicants are NOT guaranteed placement into the program for any given semester and may be placed on a waiting list. This is especially true if they test less than one month before the semester starts.
International Students
Applicants who have previously obtained scores on accepted standardized language proficiency tests (e.g., IELTS,TOEFL, or CAEL) may not be required to take the placement test. In this case, the applicant should email results of the standardized test to eap_international@algonquincollege.com
Eap Assessment Tool
Applicants without a valid standardized test score will be required to pay the $50 EAP-PT fee (subject to change) at the Algonquin College Test Centre prior to writing the EAP-PT.

How to Apply
- Apply to the English for Academic Purposes (EAP) program through the International Application Portal and pay the $95 application fee
- You will receive an acceptance letter through the application portal with tuition payment instruction and information on booking your placement test, cost is $50. See information on applying for your study permit
- Once you have completed the placement test, you will be provided with your EAP level by an advisor from the Language Institute
- You will be automatically registered and emailed instructions on accessing your timetable

How to Book Your Placement Test
Book your placement test online through your ACSIS account once you have received an acceptance letter/email through the application portal. See video and instruction below on how to book your test.
- Login to ACSIS
- On the left, under Programs select Book Assessment then select Click here to book an assessment at Algonquin College Ottawa Campus
- Select the EAP-PT – INTERNATIONAL – English for Academic Purposes – Placement Test from the drop down menu under Assessment (EAP-PT – CANADIAN – English for Academic Purposes – Placement Test if you are a Canadian student) and then select a date and time that is convenient for you
- You will pay a $50 fee on the day of your placement test.
If you are doing a Remote Placement Test (testing in your country – online or in-person at an institution in you country) costs are different and are required at the time of booking.
